Overview: My teammate and I decided to build a speedometer using a hall effect sensor as our project. Everything we used was scavenged throughout our lab room (except for the magnets that we bought). I was mainly in charge of building the physical prototype. I also helped with the block diagram from LabVIEW.
Outcome of experience: I believe that our design had a lot of ingenuity. We used many unusual ideas to solve our problems. For example, our motor was spinning too fast, stripping the hole in our cardboard wheel. To fix that, we cut 2 eraser pieces and placed the wheel between it. This provided more friction for the wheel. For our final prototype, we used the stickers that came with our magnets for even more friction.
