Overview: I worked with diverse group mates from around the world to learn and apply product design processes such as design thinking and rapid prototyping throughout a 2-week intense summer program. For our partner, he wanted a place where he could store items and have it not be in the way. Our idea was to build a retractable table (similar to the ones on an airplane) but with a storage compartment (similar to a school desk). This design would provide a convenient place for storing belongings, a functional surface for laptop use, and the flexibility to move it out of the way when necessary.
Outcome of experience: This project helped me to understand that it is important to always have the end consumer in mind. By actively understanding our partners needs, desires, and preferences on a deeper level, we were able to deliver an experience that truly catered to them and provided significant value.
